Poem: Awaken (about self-awareness)

Either I awaken;

And I realise that …
My story is just one of many stories…
My experience is just one of many experiences…
My God is just one of many Gods…
My religion is just one of many religions…
My worldview is just one of many worldviews…
My feelings are just some among many feelings…
My culture is just one of many cultures…
My land is just one of many lands…
My language is just one of many languages…
My time is just one of many eras…

Or I do not, and I remain ego-centric, and I continue to convince myself that…

My story is more valid than other stories…
My experience is more significant than other experiences…
My God is more real than other Gods…
My religion is more true than other religions…
My worldview is more correct than other worldviews…
My culture is the optimal culture…
My land is the best of lands…
My language is the most expressive of languages…
My time is the best of other times…

I seem to be invited all around me, by people from similar backgrounds, similar lands, similar cultures, similar religions with similar Gods, similar languages, and similar times … to believe that somehow WE are more special than THEY.

But I wonder if all of us are just missing the mark, and have failed to see beyond the context of our own existence.

Once a person has tasted and digested the bitter red-pill of self-awareness, there is no going back.

Once you have awoken, you cannot go back to sleep.
